Voted as one of the top homes of the decade, featured in Traverse Magazine’s Northern Home & Cottage (Feb/March 2010).
Owners and design consultants of Betsie Bay Furniture Jeff and Janet Hessler hand crafted the log home using timbers from the area and accentuated the logs with reclaimed wood floor and trim from the barn that sat at the present site of the Grand Traverse Resort as well as the Brown Lumber Warehouse at the current location of Oryana.
Jeff and Janet were inspired by the elegant lodge living of the west. They wanted the log home to have a rich, sophisticated feel while retaining the look of an authentic vintage log cabin.
With so much of the interior being made up of antique wood, the Hesslers incorporated rich jewel tones of fabric, and hand distressed painted furniture. Hardware and fixtures are done in oiled, rubbed bronze and sinks in hammered copper. All of this is accented in Mica, Tiffany and Crystal chandelier lighting.
